Marco Casillas Passes, Curtis Norris, Held In Jail For Murder of Edward Dismuke

This is from Sfgate:

A man was shot and killed and his girlfriend was wounded in a shooting in Oakland, police said.

Marco Casillas, 19, and his girlfriend, a 19-year-old woman whose name wasn't released, were found suffering from numerous gunshot wounds on the 4000 block of Santa Rita Street at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, said Officer Jeff Thomason, Oakland police spokesman.
Both were taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where Casillas was pronounced dead. His girlfriend was reported to be in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting was unknown, and no arrests have been reported in the slaying, Oakland's 103rd homicide this year.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in the slaying of the city's 102nd homicide.
Curtis Norris, 19, is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in the shooting death of Edward Dismuke, 38, authorities said. Dismuke was riding a bicycle at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday when he was shot near 38th and Allendale avenues, about five blocks from Friday night's shooting.

Norris was tracked down Thursday morning at a Days Inn near Mineta San Jose International Airport, authorities said. He is to appear Monday in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland.

Oakland Mayor's Race: LWV Forum Draws Oakland's Older Folks

Oakland Mayor's Race Forum first take. (Which means, there's going to be more of these posts on last night, because a lot was happening.) This just in: The Oakland Tribune's out of touch with Oakland. A number of attendees of the 450 estimated said they learned of the Oakland League Of Women Voters via "the newspaper." All of the people who made that statement were over 50 years old. Still, the forum, which attracted every candidate except Dr. Terrance Candell, was a success. The auditorium at 300 Lakeside Drive seats 380 people, so if you do the math, it was about 70 over capacity. The one complaint they had was there wasn't enough time to hear what the candidates were about. That wasn't because there were too many candidates, but due to the format. Either Oakland Tribune Editor Martin Reynolds or the League of Women Voter
