Kathryn Ruggiero Oakland Tech Teacher Seeks Affordable Housing, Has Sign - Video

Kathryn Ruggiero is an Oakland Tech Teacher who was walking around Lake Merritt Farmers Market on Lake Park with a sign that, in effect, reads that she is an Oakland Teacher who is looking for housing that takes less than 50 percent of her monthly income to afford. Ms. Ruggiero (who lived in San Francisco but is being forced out of her place there) said that the best deal she has found so far is in East Oakland, and that is for $1,700 per month. Doing some math, that puts her monthly income at about $3,400. Katheryn is but one of many people who's income level is taxed by the jacked up rents in Oakland. She says she can afford something at the $1,200 range. If you have a good apartment deal send her an email here: Kathryn.Ruggiero@OUSD.org
