Gene Gorelik Oakland Anti-Homeless Harassment Reveals City Charter Loophole - Video

Gene Gorelik Oakland Anti-Homeless Harassment Reveals City Charter Loophole Gene Gorelik is a real estate investor who's actions, in this blogger's opinion, show the worst of the Donald Trump supporter. What Gene Gorelik did in staging an event to harass homeless Oaklanders should be against our city's laws. But when I looked at the Oakland City Charter and under a search for "homeless" and "harassment" I could find no singular Oakland ordinance that specifically protects the homeless against such behavior. That must change. What follows is what Gene Gorelik did. This is how East Bay Community Housing described the scene from July 12th: Today, unhoused and housed community members united to stand against Gene Gorelik, a notorious local slumlord who tried to harass the residents in support of Home Depot. Gene wants the residents to move and in a ridiculous scheme, offered to pay the residents $2,000 each if they all agreed to move by 8 PM today. Over 30 community members came out this morning to support our unhoused brothers and sisters at E.8th Street and Alameda Ave. Gene showed up dressed in an elf outfit. He lied to day laborers from Home Depot (plus made them wear Minion character hats from the movie “Despicable Me”) and used them to execute his shenanigans. Gene had 4 huge float sized blow up American eagles in American flag attire, “make Oakland great again hats” and a petition. Between counter protest, numbers and unwillingness to accept Gene’s offer, Gene retreated by 9:30 AM with a police escort through a hole in the fence. He had to abandoned his rented uhaul, the boom lift and his stuff. Community won today! Really, the Oakland Police should not have escorted Gene Gorelik - that amounted to using taxpayer dollars to allow him to feel that he can harass the homeless. At present, there's no law to stop Gene, and yet, he's threatened to do it again. Oakland has to stop Gene Gorelik from harassing the homeless, and as soon as possible. Oakland Mayor's Race: LWV Forum Draws Oakland's Older Folks

Oakland Mayor's Race Forum first take. (Which means, there's going to be more of these posts on last night, because a lot was happening.) This just in: The Oakland Tribune's out of touch with Oakland. A number of attendees of the 450 estimated said they learned of the Oakland League Of Women Voters via "the newspaper." All of the people who made that statement were over 50 years old. Still, the forum, which attracted every candidate except Dr. Terrance Candell, was a success. The auditorium at 300 Lakeside Drive seats 380 people, so if you do the math, it was about 70 over capacity. The crowd was a happy mix of supporters of candidates and long-time observers of the Oakland political scene. The one complaint they had was there wasn't enough time to hear what the candidates were about. That wasn't because there were too many candidates, but due to the format. Either Oakland Tribune Editor Martin Reynolds or the League of Women Voter
