Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum JPA Final Meeting For 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, Gardner Contract Up The July 21st, 2023 meeting of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum JPA, or Joint Powers Authority, features on the agenda the fourth version of the contract between legendary former Oakland City Manager, now Executive Director, Henry Gardner and the Coliseum JPA. This one is for $202,000 (which is about what Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao makes until her $13,000 raise kicks in). But Henry Gardner deserves the contract and because he has steered the storied facility through choppy political and economic waters, and while he's not charted a course for dramatic change (yet), he has set the table for a fiscally healthy facility for years to come. The only matter this vlogger, me, Zennie Abraham, takes issue with Gardner about is the one regarding the immigrant vendors that sell hot dogs. In my view it's insensitive to want to kick them off Coliseum grounds, rather than help them grow their businesses and encourage food carts to be there, giving visitors a great combination of eating options.
