To say livin...I also used to live at 375 Van Buren. To say living there was nightmare would be an understatement. To list a few of the things that transpired during my tenure in the building:

A bug infestation which she refused to hire an exterminator for. When she was finally forced to, she had only one apartment exterminated.

She hired and kept on staff a building manager, who had several restraining orders placed upon him by female tenants who felt harassed and who he physically threatened. When she finally replaced him, she replaced him with an alcoholic.

She routinely refused to make repairs unless rent was withheld.

The electric garage door would be left open all day, as well as doors leading directly into the building, leaving the building vulnerable to crime.

She has a long history with the Rent Arbitration Board for refusing to return tenant's security deposits.

During my 1.5 years in the building, three tenants (good, middle-class people) moved out in the middle of the night because they could no longer stand it.

People there did not ask for much: they wished to live in a clean secure building where things functioned properly.

I am more than happy to take up the cause with you. Please let me know where and to whom I should write.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
