Oakland City Council President Rebecca D. Kaplan, Art Murmur Shooting Statement

Oakland City Council President Rebecca Kaplan has issued a statement in the shooting death of Kiante Campbell during last Friday night's Art Murmur Festival in Downtown Oakland. Here's that statement Rebecca D. Kaplan, Art Murmur Shooting: Oakland City Council President Statement : The shooting that took the young life of Kiante Campbell in Oakland Friday night was tragic – my prayers are with the victim’s family – and is evidence of a gun violence epidemic throughout our city that we must act to end. Our community is committed to ending gun violence – no matter where it occurs. From Telegraph to Trestle Glen, Brookdale to Bancroft – an injury to one is an injury to all. The men and women of the Oakland Police Department deserve our most sincere gratitude for their swift action to identify and arrest the shooter in Friday’s violence. As a city, we are committed to sending a clear message to anyone with disregard for law or life: if you take a shot, you will get c

Security Guards At Whole Foods Oakland Violent With Black Woman

This was a pretty bad incident that happened on February 1st and Whole Foods should be concerned about the community reaction to it. Oakland vlogger Matt Gratz is to be thanked to the video work of, as he lives next to the store. Whole Foods Oakland security guards are caught on Matt's camera making a mistake that could cost the 55,000-square-foot store at 27th and Oakland Avenue thousands of dollars in a lawsuit. The two guards, not black, are caught on camera holding the African American woman, who’s obviously upset that she is being manhandled over a misunderstanding, and this happened on Friday, February 1st – the day of the same night the First Friday shooting happened. The receipt she has is in full view in the video, yet the two ham-handed private security men waste no time in trying to make an arrest and accuse her of theft. Oakland's Jules Thin Crust Pizza To Challenge Zachary's Pizza In Rockridge

Will Jules Thin Crust Pizza complement or challenge the legendary Zachary's Pizza in Oakland's Rockridge District. It's opening in March at 5804 College Ave in Oakland. This space is selecting the word "challenge" even though Jules owners Jeff and Heather Clapp told Berkeleyside that they love Zachary's Pizza. Jeff said “I love Zachary’s deep-pan mushroom pizza. We used to live in Rockridge and would come to Zachary’s often. We see Jules as offering something very distinctive.” Where Zachary's Pizza is thick, Chicago-Style pizza, Jules Thin Crust is planned to be just that: a flatbread-style pizza of a different design, and something they came up with nine years ago at Oliveto Café. Jeff and Heather Clapp become the latest food entrepreneurs to enrich the Oakland restaurant scene. Can't wait to try their pizza, then go over to Zachary's and have some of their creations!

Pete's Harbor's Paula Uccelli Harassed By PR Mercenary; Zennie Abraham To Rescue

Paula Uccelli, the 70-year-old now former owner of Pete's Harbor, was recently attacked and harassed both online and offline by someone claiming to represent the tenants of the 60-year-old facility. Now, after this blogger, Zennie Abraham, came to Ms. Uccelli's rescue, the people responsible for working to harm an elderly woman, and who don't live on Pete's Harbor, are digging up the old, false argument that this blogger works for Chevron. What they fail to note is that their activities could be the focus of criminal action because of what they've done. What they failed to note is this blogger had their fake Twitter account, where they had stolen Paula Uccelli's identity to write nasty Twitter tweets in her name, taken down. That fake account they made caused them to be in direct violation of California's powerful online impersonation law . SB 1411 made the kind of malicious digital impersonation that the persons committed against Paula Uccelli a m

Oakland Acupuncture's Beth Checks Antioxdinant Levels

On Wednesday, I met Beth of Oakland Acupuncture, who tested my body to determine its level of antioxidants - the higher, the better, the lower, well, the worst. Mine was in-between, tilting toward the lower level. It's in the 30,000 range, but if it were lower, say in the 20,000s, that would indicate the appearance of cancer in my body. Can't let that happen. Here's the video: Oakland Acupuncture's Beth Says I Have To Eat More Fruit

City Of Oakland’s Social Media Approach Is No Approach

The City Of Oakland and Oakland Mayor Jean Quan are attempting to hide behind a plan to not put out information via social media. This blogger has asked City of Oakland press representatives to use USTREAM and set up a free livestream of the press conference, which can be done for nothing. It's a terrible effort that helps keep Oaklanders in the dark, all to prevent her from getting a lot of criticism, and help a handful of mainstream media outlets that almost no one watches get coverage. Meanwhile, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, USTREAM, Tout.com, and other social media platforms are left out. In Loring, Oaklanders have a great new cafe and restaurant to look forward to - when it opens. Loring's - or "The Loring" - is located on Grand Avenue between Broadway and Webster in Downtown Oakland. It has the best interior of any place of its kind in Downtown Oakland. The trouble is, Oakland's building inspector is taking a ton of time in approving it. Here's the video:

Why Is The Oaksterdam University Mural No More?

Oaksterdam University's symbol is gone. The incredible 7,300-square-feet mural that came to define Oaksterdam University, was a highly visible work in Downtown Oakland, and became a good representation of the new Oakland itself, is suddenly, inexplicably, gone. Oakland Should Use AutoReturn: New Municipal Towing Management Solution

AutoReturn is a new tech way of dealing with the problem of getting a towed car back to its owner. Right now, Kansas City just adopted the system for its towing matters, and San Diego and San Francisco use it, too. It's time to have an alternative to the trip one makes down to A&B Towing in East Oakland. That has gone on for too long. AutoReturn. Oakland should have it.
