This is a shocking report delivered as a video by me and about a document and its findings called "Violent, Property, Crime & Arrest Rates" in Oakland. The video has the details and I'll lay them out in a text fashion in another blog post.

i worked with opd a lot. opd officers mentioned to me all the time that it's a pain in the butt to arrest anyone after the consent decree as a result of the riders scandal - i've heard that it takes a sergeant's approval to place a subject under arrest, and opd has basically become one big paperwork-generating agency with very little actual crime-fighting being done.

Unfortunately the cops are the ones who appear to look like the bad guys in these situations. Up North in San Jose, the POA put out a website to reach out to the citizens and clear up any controversies. It's called Protect San Jose. Check it Out.
