His offer to pay the student loans of the graduates made it quite clear that black men had arrived. It said that, contrary to the mainstream media message that black men are bad, there’s a lot right with black men. That runs contrary to the mainstream media habit of showing black men doing bad things whenever it gets the chance to do so. The fact is that far less black men are in poverty today than in 1960. The fact is that a black man is far more likely to be employed than the opposite. The fact is a lot of black men are making positive change in America and the World.
