2020 NFL Virtual Spring League Meeting Preview And Details: Rooney Rule Is Focus

2020 NFL Virtual Spring League Meeting Preview And Details: Rooney Rule Is Focus - Video

2020 NFL Virtual Spring League Meeting Preview And Details: Rooney Rule Is Focus The 2020 NFL Virtual Spring League Meeting was originally to be in Marina del Rey. But due to the Pandemic, the NFL elected to hold a call-in "virtual meeting" (what we used to call a "conference call") and where media are not invited to attend. That means no large group of people, including me, hanging around waiting to get a scoop from an NFL team owner. But that does not mean there will not be a good agenda. Some highlights: 1 - Will owners change the "Rooney Rule" to add the much-talked about NFL Draft pick incentive? According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the league will require clubs to interview at least two external minority candidates for head coaching openings and at least one minority candidate for any coordinator job, per sources informed of the decision. In addition, teams must interview one external minority candidate for senior football operations and general manager jobs. Teams and the NFL league office must also include minorities and/or female applicants for senior-level positions, including club president jobs. 2 - Will the LA Rams get the $500 million in help they needed? (People forget that the Las Vegas Raiders already received their $500 million debt extension. 3 - Since there was no NFL Annual Meeting for 2020, the normally giant list of rules changes has been put on hold for general public view. I am monitoring to learn how that is going to change. Stay tuned.
