The Downtown Oakland Pierre Pierre Restaurant Shooting: Where Were Oakland Police Officers? First Friday in Oakland is normally a time for festive gatherings and celebrations. The new black-owned Pierre Pierre Restaurant was ready to be the centerpiece eatery for Downtown Oakland First Friday patronage. And by evening, it was just that. Two people who were just eating were wounded by gunfire while dining. The victims were transported to different hospitals and the assailant or assailants were not identified. But given the rate of crime, where were the Oakland Police? Where’s the Oakland Police Mobile Substation? Why were there no police nearby? We need special funding for a program specifically created to stop these kinds of crimes before they start. Let’s talk about this and solutions.
