Shorenstein Building - VSmoothe's Accuses Mayor Dellums Of Taking Undue Credit For It

I really don't care whether Dellums wants to sent out press releases about new buildings or not. The point of that post was to blast the local media for doing no actual reporting or fact checking on the issue, instead just repeating the press release Dellums sent out. Both got the sf of the building wrong by 20%. It's a huge error.

And I also think its really depressing that Dellums (or anyone, honestly - this is really a criticism of the media, not him in particular) has such control over the news cycle that all he has to do is send out a press release and that's all of a sudden the story in every paper. Maybe he should send out a press release about the Conley Report next, which is a huge deal that nobody in the media seems to think is even worth mentioning.

The media -- mainstream as we're part of new media -- is both lazy and biased. But it's also a lesson in PR -- take note.

Look, Katharine Q. Seelye of the New York Times identified one Black man as being two different people in the same article -- I should know because that person was me.

I certainly won't dispute that the traditional press is frequently biased and nearly always lazy. The NYT story about you was an example of both at the same time.
