This argument is just so sad and stupid. The children living in households with same-sex parents are the ones who pay the price. They are ostracized and excluded from their own communities. We have conversations with our own families already about the lesbian/gay lifestyles of their friends' families. You can feel comfortable or uncomfortable with their choices, but we do not change what they do by denying them the basic civil right of marriage they are entitled to under the law of the State of California.

One can never fight hate with hate...only love will conquer hatred. From that respect, I am delighted that the "No on 8" folks conducted themselves with dignity and grace. We can see that these particular 'Yes" folks are not open to diaglogue, nor are they capable of understanding that legislating reduction of civil rights is a risk to all populations in America. Nor are they able to appreciate that it was only in 1967 or 1968 that interracial marriage was decriminialized. People used their bigitry disguised as morality for decades to legislate what 'acceptable' loving looked like. This is no different.

As a clergyperson, I feel that God IS love, and that whenever two people committ to one another in love and mutuality, God's love is made manifest in this world. My faith compels me to stand with the oppressed, wherever they may be, it also compels me to come out and model a healthy relationship for our younger LGBT youth

Do straight people have marriage so together that they feel righteous in limiting my own attempt to sanctify my lifelong committment to love, honor and cherish my same-sex partner? I think not.

Discriminaiton is wrong. Period.
