NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Addresses Oakland Good Faith Dealing Problem With Raiders

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Addresses Oakland Good Faith Dealing Problem With Raiders - Video

At today's press conference and after the awarding of Super Bowls 53, 54, and 55 to Atlanta, Miami, and Los Angeles, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was kind enough to address my question regarding concerns that a number of Oakland officials had with a number of actions by the Raiders and their principal Owner Mark Davis. I will name a number of them in another vlog, but two major examples involve Davis telling City of Oakland and Alameda County Officials that the team would not meet with them until after the Houston NFL meeting and the matter of team in LA, and even then not until the Coliseum lease was signed, which was April 27th - meanwhile during that period Davis goes off and, unknown to Oakland officials, meets with Las Vegas officials. The other example was last year. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf had no idea the Raiders were negotiating with Carson and part of a team to build a new stadium there. Schaaf heard it from me, and even then did not believe it until it became common knowledge via the local media. But the bottom line is the Raiders should have informed Mayor Schaaf and not caused her or city staff to be blindsided. Commissioner Goodell said that the NFL had been transparent, (I agree) but also that both the City of Oakland and the Raiders shared blame in this large communications problem. Goodell said that he's in contact with Mayor Schaaf regularly (including 10 PM last night) and that she is aware that they have to "do something" - in other words present a plan. The problem is she and the NFL have a person in the face of the Raiders Owner, who seems to not want to really work transparently with Oakland officials to get something done. Stay tuned.
