While the original Incredible Hulk did speak simple sentences, this was taken away when the TV Hulk played by Lou Ferrigno came on CBS in the 70s. That carried through to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though that's not how the character started off. We will learn why this happened in Thor Ragnarok in November 2017.
