City Of Oakland vs. Oakland Raiders NFL Lawsuit Update: Amended Complaint Due By 12 AM Sept 10th - Video

City Of Oakland vs. Oakland Raiders NFL Lawsuit Update: Amended Complaint Due By 12 AM Sept 10th 45 days ago, San Francisco Chief Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero said that the City of Oakland and lawyer James Quinn had that long to get in an amended complaint to their original filing in the case of the City Of Oakland vs. Oakland Raiders. Today, I am told that the complaint has not yet come in, but that the plaintiffs had until 12 AM midnight, tonight, to get it in. Some viewers expected a court date today, but none was ever scheduled and for good reason: Judge Spero has to read it, first, before any hearing can be scheduled. The amended complaint is based on the original one filed last fall, December 11th, 2018, and over events leading to the relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas. The City of Oakland says the Oakland Raiders and the NFL violated federal antitrust laws and the league violated its own relocation policies, failing to act in good faith, contrary to the NFL franchise relocation rules. Oakland city attorney Barbara Parker said in a statement last winter: “The Raiders’ illegal move lines the pockets of NFL owners and sticks Oakland, its residents, taxpayers and dedicated fans with the bill. The purpose of this lawsuit is to hold the defendants accountable and help to compensate Oakland for the damages the defendants’ unlawful actions have caused and will cause to the people of Oakland.” The City of Oakland has repeatedly said it did not seek to own the Raiders name and colors; it seeks a damage award for the alleged unlawful actions that were done. Another twist features Raiders Legend Marcus Allen, who was part of the "Lott Group" development team that was ostensibly planning to build a new stadium for the Raiders in Oakland, was on NFL Sunday in a commercial promoting Las Vegas Stadium. It's not the first time Allen has been on video doing that, and a lawsuit against NFL Legend Rodney Peete of the Lott Group claims that the whole effort was a sham for which he's owned at least $125,000 back. While not part of the City of Oakland's lawsuit, the question is, should it be? It certainly looks like a case could be made that the development group may have been part of an orchestrated sham effort. There are some who believe that. Stay tuned.
