OUSD To Hold Press Conference On Wednesday Night’s Board Meeting Disturbance - Video

OUSD To Hold Press Conference On Wednesday Night’s Board Meeting Disturbance Oakland, CA (Release) -- For the third session in a row, the OUSD Board of Education faced a protest on Wednesday night at its regularly scheduled meeting. The goal of the protest has been to shut down the meetings and stop the business of the District from being completed. Many of the same protestors shut down a City of Oakland - School Board joint committee meeting inside City Hall on Monday night. Last night’s meeting temporarily ended when protestors jumped over and pushed through a barrier that was set up to protect the Board and staff. The meeting restarted once the Board and staff could be relocated upstairs to the Committee Room. Six people were arrested, cited for disturbing the peace and disturbing a board meeting, and released. Today, the Board of Education, Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell and Oakland School Police Chief Jeff Godown will hold a press conference to discuss what happened and to implore the protestors to keep their demonstrations peaceful. WHAT: OUSD Board Meeting Disturbance Press Conference WHEN: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24 WHERE: 1000 Broadway, Suite 300
