Could AMC Universal Deal Destroy Independent Theatres Like Grand Lake Theater in Oakland By: Joseph Armendariz. On July 28th The Hollywood Reporter and variety reported that AMC struck a deal with Universal to allow Universal to pull their movies after 17 days for a premium video-on-demand platform service. The movie theater industry is in uproar and there's bound to be repercussions more importantly what does it say for the independent theater operators such as Grand Lake Theater owned by Allen michaan.
