Oakland Needs More Than Clean Streets, It Needs Effective Subsidies To Make Housing Affordable There’s an idea that Oakland only needs to look beautiful to be a better city. Looks don’t solve the problem: affordable housing does. Oakland has done nothing to truly solve the affordable housing problem. If it was serious, it would give money to those in need via a special program. Instead it has nothing. No program of grants to actually help people and businesses. No work to help businesses who have been damaged by the Pandemic. Nothing. No grants to help businesses recover from the Pandemic even though AB464 was established to give municipalities in California the ability to do judt that. Oakland needs an effective government and Oakland doesn’t have it. Stay tuned.
