Olive oil and turmeric are two incredibly healthy food choices that are consumed all over the world. They offer amazing health benefits, nutrition and macronutrients that can improve our health many different ways. You can easily add these two ingredients into a number of different recipes or even smoothies. Some individuals even combine the two ingredients in water and consume it this way. If consuming regularly, one teaspoon of each ingredient in more then enough. Now, lets discuss the amazing health benefits of consuming olive oil mixed with turmeric. 1. First, both turmeric and olive oil are packed with high amounts of antioxidant compounds. Olive oil is loaded with biologically active antioxidants, plant compounds, polyphenols and vitamin E that can provide numerous health benefits. Turmeric is also an amazing source of antioxidants. Turmeric contains a powerful and potent antioxidant known as curcumin which has strong anti-inflammatory effects as well. As well, turmeric can help to increase the antioxidant capacity on the body, reducing free radicals and oxidative stress. 2. One of the greatest and most well known health benefits of mixing olive oil and turmeric, even in small doses, is its powerful and natural anti-inflammatory abilities. Olive oil has strong anti-inflammatory properties and can even help to reduce chronic inflammation. This is especially true for extra-virgin olive oil. Olive oil contains a powerful anti-inflammatory compound known as oleocanthal, as well as oleic acid. Turmeric, especially its powerful compound curcumin, has strong natural anti-inflammatory benefits. Curcumin is a bioactive substance that can fight inflammation and even provide medicinal benefits as studies have shown. 3. Another great benefit of combining and consuming a mixture of olive oil and turmeric is that it can help to reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
