LaTonda Simmons News: LaTonda Simmons Talented Oakland Assistant City Administrator Fired No Reason

LaTonda Simmons News: LaTonda Simmons Talented Oakland Assistant City Administrator Fired No Reason Got a text that the talented and effective Oakland Assistant City Administrator LaTonda Simmons was fired earlier today, Friday. LaTonda's Linkedin page reads: Ethical, Efficient, and Strategic Leadership with proven ability to streamline business processes, meet business requirements and reduce expenses. Highly skilled in organizational restructuring, developing methods for strategic service delivery and building collaborative processes. Dedicated to maintaining a reputation built on excellent service delivery, uncompromising ethics, and creative problem solving. Specialties: Program Management, Operations Management, Public Administration, Regulatory Compliance Management, Elections Administration, Records Management, Public Meeting Administration, Community Outreach, Policy Development and Analysis, Project Management, Systems Management, Technical Integration, Organizational Restructuring, Programmatic Budgeting,Team Building LaTonda Simmons Is Well-Respected And Well-Loved By City of Oakland Colleagues A look at her Linkedin page reveals that she's almost deified: Gerald SimonGerald Simon Ā· Fire Chief & City Administration/Public Safety ConsultantFire Chief & City Administration/Public Safety Consultant October 23, 2012, Gerald worked with LaTonda on the same team October 23, 2012, Gerald worked with LaTonda on the same team As the Fire Chief for the City of Oakland I had an opportunity to work with LaTonda directly in her capacity as City Clerk and as an Agency Director. La Tonda was an outstanding colleague, always willing to be collaborative, to enlighten and to assist her peers whenever possible. LaTonda displayed excellent business acumen as she directed her team members in the City Clerks Office. LaTonda was always professional, focused and creative. As City Clerk, sHe is employed in a very controversial and politically intense environment. Yet she always maintains her professionalism and conducts herself in a confident and courteous manner. She knows her job inside out and frequently has to rule on contentious matters and she does so in an objective and purely professional manner. When I think of LaTonda I am reminded of the line in Rudyard Kipling's poem " If you can keep your head while all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you . . . you will be a (wo)man my (daughter) Isaac Kos-ReadIsaac Kos-Read Ā· 1stFirst degree connection Communicator and advocate for the civic-mindedCommunicator and advocate for the civic-minded August 30, 2023, Isaac worked with LaTonda but they were at different companiesAugust 30, 2023, Isaac worked with LaTonda but they were at different companies I have had the honor of working with LaTonda for over 20 years. Having myself worked in and outside of government, I know how hard it is to balance all of the various interests, respect protocol, AND get things done. LaTonda is able to do that brilliantly despite the incredible challenging environment of Oakland City Hall. LaTonda has stepped up to do work that no one else could do successfully, and she has thrived. She is smart, effective, fair, honest, reasonable, efficient, effective, and community-minded - a rare combination of traits that one would really want in any and every public official. I would consider hiring LaTonda in a second if she were ever to move on from the City of Oakland, where she has been so dedicated despite many ups and downs and multiple changes in City leadership. With all of those observations and from Oaklanders who have been involved with the City of Oakland for a long time, one has to ask what is going on?
